1 minute setup. Hours of fun for everyone. Quality product. Game list can use some work.
The Pandora's 9s is very easy to setup. If you have a modern tv with HDMI port all you have to do is plug in the HDMI and power. Literally 1 minute setup. VGA adapter is also available. The output is HD and some games can look blocky but most games look good.
Sound comes from the console and not through the HDMI. There is an output jack available if you want to plug in a speaker or use headphones.
The joystick and controls are good. They are not the best but they don't feel cheap or flimsy. We've had it for a week already and my kids and I have abused them pretty well. We set it up for a party and lots of kids (and adults) have smashed those buttons. They are still working fine... so far.
Absolutely fun to play for kids, adult and even toddlers even if they don't really know what they're doing. The arcade sounds and flashy preview videos are really nice. You can spend lots of time just scrolling through all the games. Or if you leave the game console alone it auto cycle through the games giving you a preview of each one. We've spent hours and hours playing with this retro arcade console.
So everything so far is GREAT. Now we come to the games....
There are 1500 games with lots of duplicates. For example there are 15 titles of SF II: Champion to SF II: World Warrior. And there are 12 titles of Street Fighter II : Champion Edition to Street Fighter II : The World Warrior. Notice the names of the titles. Are they all different? I don't know. I haven't played them all yet. What's more the games are listed in no particular order at all. Game 1 is The King of Fighters 97 and Game 1500 is Martial Masters. I can't see any order to this list. Batman is 324 but Batman 2 is 797?!?. And I can't find a way to sort the games. If anyone knows please let me know. So I was going to give this 4 stars because of this game list issues. However I got a solution.
I made a google docs of the game list but I can't link it here. I've put the link in the questions and answer part of this product. I've also sorted the game list so you can find the game you want easily. However if you decide to block a game that game is removed and all the game on the list just shifts up in number.
Another way around this massive chaotic game list issue is to create your own favorite game list on the console which you can do. There is a config button which allows you access to a variety of game and console settings. One of which is a favorite game list. Recently I've found out you can only have 99 games in your favorite list. You can block/hide a game and add a password so no one can reconfigure the console.
With this google doc solution and the ability to make a favorite game list the Pandora's 9s deserves 5 star especially for the price of $135.
